Carpe Diem and Perch 21st february 2014.

What a day! Will Harding and I started out by heading to Heath Lake to try and hunt down some perch. When we arrived we found the water clarity to be rubbish. (Like a milk pond). Also the lake was folded. As a result we could not gain access to certain parts of the lake. This did not stop us ! We stayed and fished for around 2 hours with the same lure. The lure was a Big Bite 3.3" Cane Thumper - Alewife made by agm products. Once hitting swim number eight I started to feel the rod pull away like a bite but not at all aggressive. It almost felt like going through weed. I called Will over to see what was going on. He held the rod and reeled it in. He noticed a dead weight. At this time Will also thought I had hit weed. This is why I called him over. I was confused. He reeled in a bit more and on the end was a Common Carp. Will quickly handed me back the rod as he did not want to steel my catch. I was amazed that a Carp took my lure not being a predator. I think as the lure was salted the Carp was sucking on it to get the salt. also as the water clarity was bad he most probably did not know that the lure was a lure. But overall a fantastic catch!

After Will and I finished fishing at Heath Lake we headed out to another lake of which I am not sure of the name. We tried to track down a Perch. at this lake the water clarity was superb. As a result Will caught three perch on a Big Bite 3.3" Cane Thumper - Alewife by agm products and I caught Perch but my first on a Savage Gear Soft 4 play. I have never caught a perch and it felt great such a small fish that has so much power and puts up a good fight. I will defiantly be perch fishing again !!
